I’m drawn to questions that keep me thinking about what dance could be.

About

I am a mixed culture choreographer, improviser, and educator with ties to my two creative homes in Los Angeles and Philadelphia. I juxtapose ensemble spectacle with danced improvisations, delighting in what can’t quite be named. I believe in making dances that have an alien-like presence; something to be felt.

Values

I teach with the values I’ve picked up over fourteen years that underlie my solo and collaborative performance works. I frequently re-build and shape shift my approach to performance creation, expanding the notion of authorship and utilizing redirection as a framework for composing dance. In my classes, learners spur their individual growth with mentorship in these areas:

  • collaborative inquiry

  • compositional structure

  • improvisation

  • shared authorship

  • welcoming the strange
